Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev approved amendments to the Law on the Federal Security Service (Russian acronym FSB) in late July. Those amendments have considerably increased the authority of the FSB officers who from now on will have the right to officially warn the Russian citizens of the “inadmissibility of actions creating conditions for committing crimes.” In addition, the approved amendments introducing punishment measures (including administrative arrest up to 15 days) for defiance of FSB’s enforcement demands.
